We have been stopping by recently to the location of the old Angelina’s Ristorante in Annadale. After a attemp to open “Avia’s Rose”, which for some reason never happened, we finally have a grand opening of “San Marco”. We will be taking photos next week after there natural grand opening and listing a menu which is still in the process of being tweaked.
Well Staten Island, we have two new cuisines coming to the Island (Don’t understand what took so long to get here, but can’t wait till they open up).
We have a Turkish Restaurant “Seaside” which will be replacing the old “Surf Club” which shut down a couple years ago and is located right on Father Cap after crossing the Verrazano’s bridge.

Another cuisine we have coming is “Uzbekistan” restaurant name is not known yet, but the outdoor sign already says “Uzbekistan” so maybe that is actually the name of the restaurant. This restaurant is located on New Dorp Lane and should be Opening September 1st, it is replacing the ols “Sprint Store”.
Something different to look forward to, as we all know Turkish Gyro’s are the best (or so in my humble opinion). Enjoy.
Nico’s of Richmond town has finally been re-opened after a renovation and a new business partnership with a very famous actor. On a special invitation for WhereYouEat.com to be part of the Grand Opening of Nico’s, we were welcomed on Tuesday Evening by the new interest in owner Vinnie Pastore to finally open the doors to the new “Nico’s”.
The Location: Nico’s Restaurant Menu and Photos

A restaurant that has a great decorated dining room with a stage for the live band/singers and jazz nights to add relaxation to any given evening was already in progress on the grand opening. We had met many new people during this grand opening and the owner (Barbara) seems to be very interested in running the business and promoting it right. Nico’s features a separate take out pizzeria (Separate and Single Entrance Available). Authentic style Italian Cooking and a few very famous actors with great interest in the business (We were told Vinnie is now part owner of Nico’s).
The Grand Opening has featured what seemed to be mostly friends of the owners but the food that we have seen looked simply delicious, I have not really felt comfortable taking photos of people’s food while they were eating, so there are no food shots yet, but will be in the near future.
Great kills has a new pizzeria (Hopefully this place does the same style pizza as the original “Il Pomodoro”), which was actually listed as a Hot Spot on Whereyoueat for the “Thin Crust” pizza. Il Pomodoro Menu and Photos Also in Great Kills, We have noticed a huge Black and White sign on amboy road, that reads “Puglia, Coming Soon” right in the new plaza that is still being built and populated.
Looking toward the other side of the Island, we have a new Hookah Bar Cafe which has just opened last week: 101 Cafe (photos are coming soon of this establishment), In the Dongon Hills Area we have a restaurant that is supposed to be opening in a few weeks (Voila Cafe: belongs to the Italian Cuisine), in Annadale we finally have a restaurant replacing the original Angelina’s, San Marco seems to the name and should be opening some time this month (August).
The website WhereYouEat has been experiencing a few minor difficulties. Please do not worry about these as we have just updated the site and cleaning up the bugs, hopefully all problems will be fixed this week.
On a hot summer day, the few that we had this summer, sent us towards one of the “Outdoor Dining” establishments that we wrote about 2 weeks ago. It probably was the new decorations they had placed outside to give it a tropical feel (The palm trees adding the tropical shade feel). Royal Crown and Royal Cucina kitchen which is actually an Italian Sandwich shop and most of the menu (One Full Side) is based on “Sandwiches” which can be ordered on Panini’s, Heroes, Rolls and other breads your heart desires.
So we arrived at about 7pm and were seated very promptly without waiting for any outside tables (luckily for us there was one table available and patrons after us had to wait for a table outside or were seated inside). We ordered a large bottle of pellegrino and given two glasses with ice and lemon and the waitress soon after came around to take our order. We had placed an order for a Salad and a Sandwich. My mistake was discovered when the food came around, as I was really in the mood for a panini but forgot to say “Panini” and was brought the sandwich on a regular hero bread. Maybe the waitress should have asked what type of bread I would prefer it on, since this place is pretty famous for there “Panini’s”, so it’s possible this wasn’t totally my fault. Well anyways we’ll get to the review.
Atmosphere: The outdoor dining portion of the restaurant which sits right on Hylan Boulevard giving a great view of passerbys and a very clean feal to it. The outside is now surrounded by Palm Trees which gives a Tropical Feel and is just a perfect atmosphere choice on any Summer Day (Except the rainy ones).
Service: Up to the point seating and perfect timing for drinks/water coming to the table. Non-rushed ordering experience and good timing from when the order is received, yes not to quick and not to slow is the best. A little chat and relaxing before the food is just a perfect appetizer. My complaint on the service was that we should have been asked what type of bread we would like the sandwiches on.
Food: A great presentation of Salad and a decent presentation of the Hero (Not really a big fan of hero’s any more and prefer something different), but the picture can describe the way it looks. The portion size was great, we actually (2 people) split a Hero and the Salad and that was a simple, not too heavy dinner. I have also ordered my self a slice (Heard that they have thin crust, so had to try it). The salad: This was greatly enjoyed by the person eating it. The hero had great ingredients and the arugula adding some nice zesty flavouring which I enjoy. I know the Panini’s come with Pesto and really missed that part. The pizza slice, not your average pizzeria pizza, they offer thin crust which only a select few offer on Staten Island but was actually a decent ending to the meal.
Round-Up: A great atmosphere will definitely draw us back to visit again, next time I will order the panini and make sure I state “Panini” when ordering. Really need to show everyone the photos of the Panini.

PLEASE NOTICE: OUR BLOG IS CURRENTLY ONLY FEATURING STORIES FROM STATEN ISLAND, WE WILL LAUNCH BROOKLYN BLOG ALSO IN THE COMING MONTHS, AFTER WE HAVE FULLY UPDATED AND ADDED PHOTOS TO THE DIRECTORY PORTION.
Well congratulations to our development team for finally getting the new site design, Brooklyn launched and a few great upgrades up online.
Yes there are still Many Many Errors running this website, we are using a much more complex code, but the bugs are in the process of being worked out as we speak. The maps on the front city page currently not working, please use the advance search (We have moved this up to the top, for now until the map begins to work).
OK about the new site upload, switching cities can be done by using the “Change City” button located on top left corner. The Review System has been a bit upgraded, and the best part of the upgrade is we have Brooklyn Restaurant Menus and are connecting them as we read and write. All Brooklyn Restaurants (About 2200 Restaurants) will be up, live and running by August 15th, 2009. Photo collector has begun taking photos and estimates about 2 Months Completion Time.
Hopefully by the end of this year, our Happy 2009, Brooklyn and Staten Island will be fully running including the blogs and menu updates with upgrades coming to the website. Please notice, our website development is on-going and we are always improving our system, Since we first launched the website in 2006 as a Sample/test site with a single menu, web development has begun. Till this day almost 3 years later, we are still improving our system. Whereyoueat Media understands that the website is the “Storefront”, we try to keep our store always clean, simple and easy to navigate yet always thinking of some new features to make our “Shoppers” happy.
Please enjoy the website and send us suggestions using the contact us box or just mail to Support@Whereyoueat.com and till the next big news hits, Enjoy your food…
