Website Information
Whereyoueat Media is in planning development phase for version 3.0. A more stable browsing experience with more user interactivity is just around the corner.
- Version 1.0: The first version of whereyoueat was launched in September 2007. Included the most basic features on our non database driven website with menus being typed out. Our original website was built in pure html and each menu was added manually to each page.
- 1.3: Improved navigation features. Menus have begun being scanned.
- 1.5: Addition of Basic Review script allowing our visitors to share comments and opinions on each restaurant. This was named under the box “Views and Reviews”.
- 1.7: Organized browsing with having organized lists by zip codes, cuisine and establishment types.
- 1.8: Whereyoueat begins adding photos of local restaurants.
- 1.9: Launch of WhereYouEat’s Restaurant Scoop. After much research we realized that this was a very important part that was missing from our website. Now you were able to see all Restaurant Grand Openings on Staten Island as well as Local Restaurant News and Critic Reviews.
- Version 2.0: Database driven website built which added much more powerful browsing features. Users were now able to Basic Register as well as use the website with a lot more powerful search features. Additions of Price Range, Restaurant Type and Special Features. We were now updating restaurant menus and adding photos automatically through an admin panel which helped us be more productive.
- 2.1: Improvement of User Interface layout.
- 2.2: A custom built blog which was more organized than the previous version.
- 2.3: User Registration Toolbar panel which allowed users to keep their favorite restaurants in a single touch menu style drawer located at the bottom of the screen. This also kept track of User Review Journal and Try lists.
- 2.4: Launch of the “Coupons” Savings system. which we used the Enhanced listing to deliver message of restaurant savings on the listings page. Highlighted restaurants had savings, coupons and discounts.
- 2.5: Newsletter system has been launched. Even though we are still not currently doing mailing updates, the system is available and will be used sometime in the near future.
- 2.7: Improved User Registration Module; Requires visitors to be registered members to Review Restaurants.
- 2.8: Launch of Targeted Banner System. We deliver high quality ads that you may be interested in seeing. Ads that you see are our sponsors which appear on free-listing restaurants. Due to increasing traffic with large bandwidth costs, we opened up a new advertising option.
- CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT: VERSION 3.0: A Stable Platform of WhereYouEat. This website will be developed and hosted on new secured dedicated server space. Improvements during this phase will include a more interactive user experience, allowing users to upload food photos, like restaurants and write reviews more cleaner.
- Soon after original launch of version 3.0 we will begin adding on many new features such as (Event Calendars, Restaurants will manage their own listings, Discount Center and much more)
