Lunch Specials search added to Restaurant Features

A new search option has been added to WhereYouEat:  Lunch Specials.  After our latest menu update tour we realized many restaurants have recently created a separate special lunch menu so we figured to make them easily available will help everyone.

A Restaurant must have a special section on their menu or a separate menu dedicated to Lunch Specials to be listed in the category. We already know that most Chinese take-out restaurants offer daily lunch specials, they will also be listed in the section.

Site Updates and Openings

A few important announcements:

• After 1 month of the new website (Version 3.0) being live it seems that everything is running smooth but of course we have been documenting browsing habbits and found a few small quality issues that we will begin improving before the end of this month.  These issues include:
  • Block multiple reviews from same visitor on each restaurant listing.
    • We have noticed that many reviews, especially the Negative one’s keep coming from same visitor for the same restaurant.  This security issue will be fixed in the first round of quality changes.
  • Improved Photo Gallery
    • Even though our photo gallery works great, unfortunately it only allows for a single size photo which does not display correctly if visitors share photos with different resolutions.  Will be fixed second round of QA changes.
  • Adding Menus to your Try Drawer and Menu Drawer will keep you on the same page, not forcing the current redirect which throws many of us off track.
  • Notices of Reviews Added, Menus Added to try Drawer will display a small notice instead of complete redirect.
  • Adding Photos will remain as smooth as it is now but allow easier access to your history.
  • Searching for Restaurants with coupons will be easier and found in all searches from main page, search page as well as restaurant page
    • Print Coupon Counter will be installed
  • New search features will include:  Wheelchair Accessible, Island Wide Delivery as well as recently added Sports Programming.
• We will also begin Complete on-going Menu Updates per 12-week basis.
  • This should leave enough time to allow us to have at least 95% update rate of menus at any given time.

Grand Opening Walk-Around BOMOND

A New restaurant opens up in Great Kills:  Bomond a Russian Cuisine has a very impressive design and unique feel to it.  The restaurant features a single room which is large and can be sectioned off for different parties or private dining tables, a dance floor and band station for live music & other entertainment and a mini-bar tables for waiting.

The owners went very heavy into detail; Everything from the curtains, the wall art and even the speakers are all top notch and match the layout very neatly.

New Restaurant Listings on Staten Island

A few grand openings will be happening around Staten Island sometime soon.

• In Great Kills we have a new opening Bomond Restaurant, Russian cuisine which opened December 18th.
• North shore we have Lunchbox being built right now at the previous location of Singlelicious on Forest Avenue.
• Also we have Pepperjack grill coming from same owners as Lacey’s Bridge Tavern.

New Chinese Restaurant China King

A new Chinese Restaurant arrives on Mid-Island of Staten Island.  Replacing the previous New Mandarin Chef is China King.
It is now under New Ownership and offers delivery to 10314, 10310, 10302 and parts of 10301.

Based on a few user requests we have added Coffee & Tea Market on the North Shore to our listings.  From the South Shore we have San Marco change of ownership, it is now known as Il Sogna, also next door the previous Mona Lisa is now Trio.

King Buffet

King Buffet is Staten Island’s Largest All You Can Eat buffet.  It is located on 2407 Richmond Avenue, SINY, 10314.
Recently renovated they have added a new All You Can Eat Sushi Island that consistently is making fresh sushi in front of you.   The food is constantly changing and always seems to be fresh.  They have many varieties of Seafood including fish, crabs, shrimp all different types of cooking style fried, boiled, steamed.  Also many of their items are Chinese, American and Japanese, offering everything from rice and dumplings to specialty sushi rolls and desserts.  You can see how they continuously rotate items and always bring out fresh trays.  The reason everything stays fresh is because it always has customers and they always keep new food coming.
