Sometime many years ago, Staten Islanders experienced it’s first ‘All You Can Eat’ Sushi Buffet, in a dine in style, being prepared as you order.  Slowly this trend spread across the island and is now offered in many Japanese Sushi restaurants.   If it would be possible to discover the first place that introduced this to Staten Island, it would go long tracing backwards.  Red Apple may have very well been the first Japanese Restaurant on Staten Island to offer All You Can Eat Sushi Buffet.

These ‘All You Can Eat’ are very different from the Chinese Buffet’s,  It is a Sit-Down, Dine-In Atmosphere where the server comes around every few rounds to take your order for some more sushi.  Red apple has always been known to serve highest quality sushi available, with great presentation, service and atmosphere.  They were rated a whopping 3 Stars by the Staten Island Advance which is the highest rating given out by the Advance.

Manor Sushi Grand Opening

Located on Manor Road, Mid-Island of Staten Island comes a new Japanese Dine In, Take-Out cuisine offering Free-Delivery.  The Name is Manor Sushi, Grand Opening happened April 28th.  The restaurant serves your basic Japanese Sushi & Sashimi, specializing in Rolls, A La Carte pieces. Offering Clam Soup and Seafood Soup and some Entrees from the Kitchen with items like Teriyaki, Tempura, Age Mono, Negimaki.  They offer various types of Noodles as well as serving a Hibachi Menu.  Lunch Specials are available daily Monday to Friday 11:30 to 4:00pm, they have a 10% coupon online for WhereYouEat visitors.

JoAnna’s Italian Kitchen

Sharkey’s Square Grand Opening

Now on the North Shore, Richmond Avenue comes Sharkey’s Square pizzeria.  Opened just Last Month with the Bright Pink logo, this restaurant establishment offers delivery, take-out and tables for sit down.  The pizza looks delicious, square style with their tag line that reads ‘The place of the great square pie’.  They also have and serve Uncle Louie G’s Italian Ice, offer Catering and have Free Wi-Fi for Diners.

News Updates

The restaurant world on Staten Island has a few changes around the Island.

• Il Pomodoro on Hylan Blvd has just moved locations, 3 blocks down and a smaller spot which no longer has the outdoor dining available.  The pizza still looks the same, thin crust, they lost the room to ‘Brag’ with the huge sign they used to put up that reads “World Pizza Champion” that was meant to counter Goodfella’s that used to be next door.  If you checked out Il Pomodoro before, you may have to refresh the page or the older photos may load.  WhereYouEat Media is now creating archives of restaurant photos, for future ability to go back into history. • My Family Pizza has a new, attractive, cartoonist style, which is very clean and pleasant.  ’My Family Pizza’ has some great Specials Online, Click here to Check out My Family Pizza Menu.
• King Buffet, Which is guaranteed by WhereYouEat Media to be Staten Islands Largest and Freshest All You Can Eat buffet (As of May, 2011), has some Hour Changes, they are open a bit later daily, but also open up a bit later for lunch. Check Out King Buffet Here.

• Grand Openings Coming Soon:  Lunchbox will be openings May 15th.  Manor Sushi (Next to the new Self Serve Yogurt Place) on Manor Road should be opening in the next couple of weeks.   Sandwiched INN should be open in Great Kills as of this week, we will confirm and get them listed right away if the information is accurate.
