You may have noticed a while back that Staten Islands somewhat Popular Diner, The Island Coffee Shop has closed it’s doors. Located on Victory Blvd, the owners had to close up shop and are currently moving to a new location (not yet opened). At the same time another restaurateur opens up a new establishment at the previous location of Island Coffee shop, the name is Victory Coffee Shop, the place is brightened up and renovated, looks a bit larger now with new seating booths and counters.
Victory Coffee shop has just opened it’s doors during the past 2 weeks, Check out The Menu and Photos on Victory Coffee Shop restaurant page.
On the other note, what happened to the original Island Coffee Shop? They are in the works to relocating to manor road, About 6 Blocks away, just around the corner at the previous location of ‘Master Pizza’, which also recently closed down, the location is of course much bigger and the competitions is growing for the spot to be Staten Island’s number one diner. Especially with so many local diners in the area, maybe multiple can be winners.

From the same owners that brought Staten Island DaNoi & Vola Cafe, comes a new restaurant to Bay Street. Located at the previous location of Aesop’s table, which has been closed for nearly 2 years is BIN 5. On the smaller side than the other locations of the same owners, This neighborhood Italian restaurant will be sure to turn some heads and bring customers inside. They are known around the island for establishments that make the customers feel welcome, pleasant service makes everyone feel special and at home.
Bin 5 features an outdoor garden, small bar by the entrance and a medium sized dining area. The place is clean and renovated.
The menu features items such as Frizee leaves tossed with sweet corn, fresh peeled plum tomatoes in a truffle oil and lemon dressing topped with lump crab meat. More from the salads we see Spicy Shrimp served with cucumber and watermelon salad in a honey vinaigrette dressed, very unique for the island.
Appetizers have items such as Crepes filled with ricotta cheese and minced mixed mushrooms served over a pesto sauce with fontina cheese on top. Spring rolls stuffed with cabbagte, bok chooy, carrots served with sweet chili sauce, oysters served with pancetta in a white wine sauce, Duck and scallion rolls served with a blood orange, hoisin and balsamic dipping sauce, clams sauteed with roasted tomatoes in a white wine and pancetta sauce. Bin 5 Also features Whole Portobello sliced thru the center and layered with asparagus, roasted peppers, shredded gorgonzola cheese served with roasted tomato sauce. You can just tell by looking at these items that thoughtful preparation goes into each item that is served.
Bin 5 Entree’s have items Veal Scallopini stuffed with cannellini bean puree in a lemon, butter and sage sauce, Chicken Pieces, filet mignon pieces and sausage slices sauteed with mushrooms and potatoes in a white wine, garlic, rosemary, lemon and red wine vinegar. Breast of chicken layered with grilled eggplant & smoked mozzarella in a lemon and white wine sauce. Salmon wrapped in thinly sliced potatoes in a roasted tomatoe mascarpone cheese sauce. Surf and Turf goes under the Filet Mignon, stuffed with lobster pieces sauteed in a butter sauce served with mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day. They also serve the Fra’Diavolo linguine which comes with Calamari, Shrimps & Clams. Sole sauteed with clams, shitaki mushrooms & Cuddle fish in white wine and butter sauce also sounds delicious.
