Grand Opening: Il Divo

Less than a week after our article (Tis the season for New Openings) we have another Grand Opening, what makes this one so special is it’s brought to you by the DaNoi family of Restaurants. The original named Vola Cafe has lost the touch that the family wants to keep, a high quality, welcoming dining atmosphere coupled with great service and delicious food. Vola has turned out to be mostly a late-night bar go to with it’s trendy atmosphere.
The owners may love the bar crowd and what the place has become but they want a similar feel to the Authentic Italian Cuisine that’s been in the family for many years. The menu has been scrapped, the exterior changed to multi-beige, some minor interior changes gives Il Divo a completely new feel over the previous restaurant.
Il Divo’s Grand Opening is this weekend and we have the menus and photos up for you today: Il Divo Staten Island
Walk-Around: Il Divo features a neat outdoor dining portion, too bad it’s too late for this year, but we have something to look forward to next year, imagine a fine Italian restaurant letting you sit outside (City Style?). Interior features a still trendy bar, but at the same time keeping in family style, beautiful decorations and plants are placed around the restaurant.
Pictures can tell a whole lot more

Tis the season for New Openings

Three years of following the local restaurant scene, adding new restaurants, September and October seem to be the busiest month of Grand Openings, it’s like a pre-holiday gift to the locals and every year we see new ideas come into play. What makes this month so special is the variety of restaurants expanding to different parts of the island, offering their tastes to further parts than ever before.
Last month we have watched Z-Two make a grand opening on the South Shore with a complete statement of luxurious, club-like, trendy yet stylish Diner and Lounge, a very unique concept of what the owner Steve new that locals needed. We have watched Pronto Pizza expand to their fifth location which now finally let’s them serve the South Shore, giving option of Pronto’s Pizza and Pasta to every resident on Staten Island.
South Shore business has been expanding like wild-fire, business after business seem to be growing day by day. Just this week we announced a grand opening for a new concept, a Smokehouse with an Authentic “PIT”, serving Ribs, Smoked Sausage and more of the favorites which could rarely be found on Staten Island before. DaddyO’s BBQ and Smokehouse is now open for business, located at the previous location of Hoof n Finz.
We have an upscale Mexican Cuisine that had it’s ‘Soft Opening’ early this week, Cabo, which will be announcing a Grand Opening sometime next week, after they work out their kinks and get their take-out menu right, although their main focus is dine in, it is a restaurant and bar located on page avenue.
Next week we will also be announcing a new opening of a restaurant replacing Vola Cafe, The DaNoi family will be brining Il Diveo to Hylan Blvd. And whatever happened to the All You Can Eat buffet that was advertising as being opened about 2 months ago, but unfortunately never made it to opening their doors, maybe this month we’ll see something good.
Some other openings coming soon to the island: Tottenville Tavern, which will take the place of Tuscan Sun, Red 7 will replace the Pizzeria and Bar on Arthur kill Road. Not sure of the exact openings, but it’s what we noticed while going for our monthly stroll around the island to screen what’s changed.
WhereYouEat.com is Staten Island’s most comprehensive dining guide and restaurant portal. We provide a complete listing with all menus, photos and information of every local restaurant in our borough. Best way to continue to support us is to support restaurants that sponsor us, look for highlighted restaurants in any search and make sure to mention you found them through WhereYouEat. Before I forget, remember to write your reviews after dining out at any of these new restaurants, other visitors are waiting for your opinions.

Can this really be? Sahara, the famous Turkish restaurant on Coney Island comes to Staten Island? No, but it’s close, Sahara X-Press is not affiliated with the original Sahara, but they do serve Turkish, Lebanese and Mediterranean Cuisine.
For the Grand Opening special Sahara X-Press is offering Falafel Sandwich for $3 and Chicken or Lamb with Rice for only $6.
It is Halal, the establishment is more of a take out place, but there is enough chairs and a table to sit about 10 – 12 people max. Geared more to offering delivery, they still serve all type of dishes. Shish Kebab, Adana Kebab, Gyro’s are all on the menu in addition to Shepherd Salad, Piyaz, Tabule and much more.
