Applebees opens up a location on Surf Avenue, and it’s not just any location – it’s a special kind of restaurant which brings a huge fish tank (shark tank) and places it in the center of the establishment to give it the authenticity that this Applebee’s deserves.  The restaurant features a roof top outdoor dining with great views.  Coney Island Brooklyn is like the vacation area and rightfully so it offers lots of flavors and attractions, Applebee’s is a great addition to the area.

Grand Opening: Luigi’s Pizza comes to Brighton Beach

A new choice of cuisine comes to the end (or beginning) of the Brighton Beach strip, a pizzeria with a wide selection of specialty slices and pies.   The regular menu features standards like Cheese, Fresh Mozzarella, Lasagna, Spinach, Philly steak, Sicilian Marinara, Cristini which is unique – thin squares with fresh mozzarella, fresh tomato or roasted peppers and fresh basil. Luigi’s serves Stuffed Pies, Calzones, Rolls and has it’s own special section for Grandma’s Special Pies.  Catering menu is posted with complete selection of available for small or large parties.

Grand Opening: Lagidze Georgian Cuisine in Coney Island

A New European/Georgian Cuisine opens up at 2006 Coney Island Avenue.  Lagidze Restaurant and Bar offers a wide range of European Cuisine.   The interior restaurant features brick wall to give it that authentic European world feel, bar is on the right side and dining tables line up the interior, wide and opened for a comfortable dining experience.

The menu offers salads such as the Georgian, Kavkasiuri and Greek.  Mushroom Soups, Borsht, Chakapuli is served alongside with appetizers such as Green Beans and Red Beans, marinated Vegetables and Assorted Cheeses.   Lagidze has a special Georgian Pizza menu, which is technically a flat bread topped with cheese and various toppings, Eggs, Butter, Beans.  Entree’s include Georgian favorites yet standard, Fried potates with mushrooms, salianka, chicken served with blackberry sauce, Ojaxuri which is the Fried Potates with Beef.  Under the Meat section of the menu you will find Pork Kabob, Lamb Kabob, Pork Ribs, Imeruli Sausage, Steak and a New York steak for your selection.  Fish such as Salmon Steak, Trout either grilled or Fried or the Sturgeon kabab can also be enjoyed at Lagidze.

Grand Opening: Amber Sushi in Brooklyn

A new Sushi/Japanese restaurant comes to the tip of four neighborhoods in Brooklyn.  At the corner of Park Slope, Prospect Heights and in reach of Boerum Hill, we did not know where to classify this restaurant. but we are guessing they offer service to all of these neighborhoods.   Anyways Amber Sushi features a small eat in area, with tables and a mini few seat sushi bar.  The menu features your standard Japanese, Sushi place with soem Kitchen Platters, Donbury, Curry and Bento Boxes.  Ramen Noodles, and Noodle Soup can be had from Amber Sushi.

Amber Special Box gives a choice of Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, Tokyo Fried Chicken, Beef Teriyako or Shrimp and it is served with Rice, Salad, Soup and California Roll and Tempura.  The bento Boxes can be had for $7 to $9 depending on selection of meat.

Grand Opening: Agra Taj Mahal opens in Greenpoint

A new Indian Restaurant/Cuisine opens at the far end of Brooklyn in Greenpoint.  The dining room is simple enough to come in eat during any time of the day, it has an standard dining feel with a little bit of authentic flavor, clean and sleek is what you’ll find at Agra Taj Mahal.  The menu is wide and selective, it’s the restaurant that tries to fit your every need, whether it is lunch, dinner, catering or parties you will find your special here.

We’ll start witht eh Agra Taj Special Dinner which goes for $15.95 and gives you a Soup, Appetizers, Fried Shrimp with Poori, Papadum and Chutney.  For the main course you get to enjoy Chicken Karahi, Mixed Vegetable Curry, Dal, Soffron Rice and Nan, Tea or Coffee.   Other selection for similar price inclue the Tandoori, Seafood Curry, Or the Le Bhojan, a True Vegetarian Dinner.

Lunch Specialist is served until 3:00pm each day, Vegetable Lunch for $7.50, Meat Lunch for $7.99 and Seafood Lunch for $8.50.

Grand Opening: Stocked in Prospect Heights

A new cafe style Sandwich Shop comes to Vanderbilt ave. Stocked features a dining area surrounded an island style kitchen to the left.  Rotisserie chicken is being prepared throughout the day.  Breakfast Menu features a selection of Muffins, Sandwiches and Empanadas.    We’ll take this restaurant as a Sandwich place with variety of selection including the BLAT – Applewood Smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocada, Aioli.  It sounds like a BLT only with a little bit more flavor, if it’s made with love then it is guaranteed to be delicious.    Other sandwiches include Salmon Salad with peppers, onions, romaine on pumpernickle bread.  Capicola Style Roast Pork with Provolone, Espelette Pepper, Broccoli Rabe.

Prepared Foods section of the menu gives you the House Rotisserie Chicken for $17 bucks, your choice of BBQ RUB or Herbed, Macaroni & Cheese, CousCous Salad, Salmon Burgers, Turkey Meatloaf and more.  We love small creative menus where the owners put thought into what they serve and Stocked looks sure like one of them.

Grand Opening: Fornino opens a Greenpoint location

Fornino a famous pizzeria from Park Slope and Williamsburg opens up a location on Manhattan Avenue in Greenpoint.  The menu reads it’s description  Historical Approach to Pizza – “In 1830 the world’s first pizzeria, Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba, opened its doors in Naples, and an industry was born.  Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba is still in business, by the way.  Fifty-Nine years later a pizzaiolo named Raffaele Esposito was invited to the Italian royal palace to make three pizzas for the visit of King Umberto and Queen Margherita of Savoy.  The queen was apparently no dummy when it came to politics, so she declared her favorite pizza to be the one with the colors of the Italian flag, red (tomato), white (mozzarella cheese) and green (Basil).  Thus Pizza Margherita was Born”.

Naples is the First Generation – Its where it all started, Italy is the Second Generation – Grop of Pizzas that have beenc reated in all different regions of Italy, Fornino states it is the Third Generation – Pizzas inspired and created by the master Pizziolas and staff of Fornino.

Now we love restaurants that have a story, that usually tells us the owners put creativity to work into both the food and the service.

The menu features all generations of pizza – The Naples gives you a choice of Marinara, Margherita Classica.  The Italay gives you a choice of Rustica, Ortolana, Genovese, Pugliese and some others.  The Fornino is in our generation giving us the Funghi Misti (Mozzarella, Mixed Wild Mushroom, Caciocavallo, White Truffle Oil, the Al Roker features Tomato, Mozzarella, Fontina, Carmelized Onion, Sopressata, Roast Pepper, Rosemary.

Grand Opening: Cheers Thai moves up the block in Williamsburg

Cheers, the Thai restaurant which was located just down the block makes home in a new location at 568 Metropolitan Ave.   The restaurant features an open floor plan, with a bar in the center, tables in the front and the sides and even some dining area on above second level overlooking the restaurant.

The menu features your standard Thai style curries and appetizers.  The Special Menu offers Grilled Salmon with lemon white sauce, mushroom, zucchini and broccoli.  Red Snapper, Grilled Mackeral and Buterfly chicken is all found on this offering.  Flank Steak grilled with Orange sauce.

Lunch Specials are served daily until 4:30pm – Dine in is served with Soup or Salad and Fried Rolls, Take out is served with Salad and Fried Rolls.  Choose your meat or protien and put it into what you want – Gluten Free Mixed Vegetables, Bok Choy, Vegetable Rainboy, various Curries, Sauteed Sauce.
