Restaurant scene recovering

The number of visitors on WhereYouEat has went up a staggering 50% since last month. During this tremendous growth we have experienced a lot of server issues and errors by having too many users on at a single time (For which our basic server can handle). Since so many more people are searching for where to dine out, either through Search Engines or come Directly to the site this can tell us that the dining scene is in recovery phase.
Even though we understand that our traffic spurts and restaurants start to get busy again during this season and from our history we have been experiencing a 12% growth during the summer time, we have never expected a huge jump. We are very happy to see this and will continue to work daily to better serve the community, environment and local business.
You can put your trust in WhereYouEat.com as the first place to check when a New Restaurant Opens, User Reviews, Critic Reviews and All Menus and Photos of Staten Island Restaurants!

Our most recent upgrade was the Coupon Enhanced listing which we had developed 2 months ago is still getting the quirks worked out. You can look for the Image above the Restaurant Photo to see if the restaurant may have a coupon. Most of the Coupons are not required to be printed, Simply Mention Whereyoueat and receive any discount on the coupon.
OK, now for the few plans we have to make this website even further the (All-in-One) Food Source.
- Interviews with Local Restaurant Owners (January 2010): Video interviews conducted at the restaurant location with some of the basic questions on why they started the business, where they learned how to cook and other general business questions.
- Message Forum: Connecting users in a live message forum way.
- Brooklyn Restaurant Listings will be all updated and we will begin updating menus on a (12-Week) period. Brooklyn will also be complete with Photos by Mid-Year, and Walk-Around system will be in place the way it is on Staten Island.
- Late in the year we will begin a new phase: Developing a “beta” version of Online Ordering and Table Reservations.
To many request made to WhereYouEat about if we can deliver food from Restaurants that Do Not Deliver, It’s possible that sometime in the future we will expand our market horizons by providing a delivery service. At this time not too many request came in, so if this is something you are interested in, use the contact us as a suggestion.
Website Design Changes and Apology for Delay of Brooklyn Launch
July 16, 2009 by admin
Dear Staten Island and Brooklyn Residence, Our Designers and Web Developers have been working non-stop in the past few weeks making a few design changes on our website and getting ready for the launch. The Brooklyn Restaurant Menu and Photos Data information is already inside the Database. The only problem is the design issues we have been having lately and wanting to upgrade the way our site looks and the way it works. Please be patient and hopefully early next week we will be able to make it live.
The following Technical upgrades have been added to the website during this upgrade process:
- Advanced Search: Now displays only what is available within a certain city, So you do not have to select a cuisine or special feature to only realize that “No Restaurants Founds”.
- Narrow Search: Works the same, only displays what other searches are available within the search you have searched.
- Improving Coupon System: We will next month begin offering a Powerful Ultra Enhanced “Special Discounts Inside” listings for restaurants, our coupon system will be easier to see and will work with a “Press to Print” button to make the process even simpler.
- We will also begin taking ads from local business (Other than restaurants). Local Plumbing, Barber Shops, Hair Saloon’s, Bridal Party Shops, Discount Stores and all others will soon be able to advertise directly on the Menu Pages on a Impression Basis. For our visitors, we will try to have many coupons from local shops which will be able to target and advertise on restaurants in a certain Zip code, Island Wide and Even Multiple Cities.
The following Design Changes have been created for a smoother looking and simpler website. (Like it wasn’t simple enough already)
- The Front Page (Select Your City), looks a lot more prettier and tastier than the previous version. The Advanced Search works with One Select, instead of Click, Select and Search.
- The Restaurant Listings Page has remained similar look but added a more creative looking “Narrow Search” that also works with a single drop and click. We have also upgraded the Featured Listing portion to be able to deliver even more results to our advertisers.
- Saving the Best for Last: The Actual Menu Page. The menu page is now a lot Easier to Read, Cleaner to Feel, Upgraded our Review Script, Added Gallery Thumbnails (So you can see all restaurant photos thumbnails without having to click through) Although selecting a photo will enlarge the photo, you can now change photos withing having to minimize each photo first. The coupons on many restaurants now stand out greatly and a much cleaner look to where our local advertisers may go. We have also upgraded many images on this page.
- User Registration and My Account panel is now easier to use than ever before. Simply Register for an Account, When browsing for menus you can add them to “My Favorites”, select My Account and View (My Favorites, My Latest Reviews, Latest News and Restaurants Near You).
- Next time you visit our website, you will be auto-redirected to the city which you first have selected. To switch a city, please look under our logo “Select a City” and simply click and press to change cities.
Special Notes: We put lots of time and effort into making this website run, and greatly appreciate all the suggestions you send us and enjoy hearing the comments. Please keep doing so as your support is what keeps us going. Also please help report restaurants that are missing by using the “Report Missing Restaurant” button on the listings page.
We hope you enjoy our upgrades and wish you the very best dining experience tonight and hope we were of help to you.
