Three years of following the local restaurant scene, adding new restaurants, September and October seem to be the busiest month of Grand Openings, it’s like a pre-holiday gift to the locals and every year we see new ideas come into play. What makes this month so special is the variety of restaurants expanding to different parts of the island, offering their tastes to further parts than ever before.
Last month we have watched Z-Two make a grand opening on the South Shore with a complete statement of luxurious, club-like, trendy yet stylish Diner and Lounge, a very unique concept of what the owner Steve new that locals needed. We have watched Pronto Pizza expand to their fifth location which now finally let’s them serve the South Shore, giving option of Pronto’s Pizza and Pasta to every resident on Staten Island.
South Shore business has been expanding like wild-fire, business after business seem to be growing day by day. Just this week we announced a grand opening for a new concept, a Smokehouse with an Authentic “PIT”, serving Ribs, Smoked Sausage and more of the favorites which could rarely be found on Staten Island before. DaddyO’s BBQ and Smokehouse is now open for business, located at the previous location of Hoof n Finz.
We have an upscale Mexican Cuisine that had it’s ‘Soft Opening’ early this week, Cabo, which will be announcing a Grand Opening sometime next week, after they work out their kinks and get their take-out menu right, although their main focus is dine in, it is a restaurant and bar located on page avenue.
Next week we will also be announcing a new opening of a restaurant replacing Vola Cafe, The DaNoi family will be brining Il Diveo to Hylan Blvd. And whatever happened to the All You Can Eat buffet that was advertising as being opened about 2 months ago, but unfortunately never made it to opening their doors, maybe this month we’ll see something good.
Some other openings coming soon to the island: Tottenville Tavern, which will take the place of Tuscan Sun, Red 7 will replace the Pizzeria and Bar on Arthur kill Road. Not sure of the exact openings, but it’s what we noticed while going for our monthly stroll around the island to screen what’s changed.
