When a new food “trend” starts and gains some hype, it starts to spread like wildfire – especially on Staten Island :)!  Sushi Burrito is the new “Asian Fusion” type of food which is just what it sounds like, a Sushi – Burrito – Handheld Sushi rolled with lots of ingredients, looking at one of the menu items of Dynasty Taste’s new Asian Fusion menu you see the “Typhoon” a Burrito rolled with Tuna, Crab Salad, Cucumber, Pickled Ginger, Avocado, Tempura Sweet Potatoes, Spicy mayo and Eel Sauce.  Burritos are no longer just the Mexican/Tex-Mex cuisine.  Dynasty Taste prints on the menu that it is “Staten Island’s First Sushi Burrito” which it was when the menu was first printed, but today we have two.  Another spot near New Dorp named Simple Asia is also serving this new style of Sushi.

The restaurant is now under full new ownership and the new owners asked us to break down their menu into two – as they have two separate kitchens, one to fulfill their original Chinese Food and the new introduction of Japanese Cuisine. The previous menu remains the same, similar Chinese hot spot which has a strong following in the neighborhood, but the introductions of a Sushi place hasn’t been around some time in the neighborhood.

The closest sushi spot is East Pacific, the restaurant in the Mall and on the other side we have Sapporo by Victory Blvd.  But New Springville now has it’s own sushi spot, which is great for this heat since you don’t want a driver taking raw fish from 5 miles away.

Okay let’s look at the menu first; Standard Japanese, Starters, Soup and Salads all feature the Miso, Edamame, Gyozo, Seaweed Salad, Shumai, Tuna Tartar and Rock Shrimp.  Sushi and Sashimi a la carte by the piece is served in two for prices of $4.00 – $6.00 a piece.  Octopus, Squid, Masago, White Tuna, Uni and Eeel are all on the menu.  Note this is not half-priced sushi joint and regular rolls go for $4 – $8 range.  The Sushi Burrito offers a large selection and pricing is about $8, selection of The Hot Chicken, Vegas Style, Californio Sumo, Tempura Shrimp, Teiryaki Beef, BBQ Eel, Buddha, Citrus, Hamachi, Spicy Crunch and Cosmo a Purple Cabbage, Pickled Ginger with Carrots, Cucumbers, Avocado, Spicy Shrimp Tempura Flakes are all offered a the New Dynasty Taste.

The rest is ‘Standard Sushi’ Chef’s Special rolls, as well as the Sushi Entree’s and Kitchen Entree’s.  Bento Boxes and Lunch Special deals are offered and a message from the restaurant states “Staten Island’s first sushi burrito. We infuse multi-cultural flavors into every sushi burrito.  We serve fresh convenient, large hand-held sushi Burrito the new Asian Fusion Style.”
