Lava Lounge Walk-Around

By In -Featured, Grand Openings, Staten Island

Well we have a new addition on the Arthur Kill Stretch which adds another “Bar” style restaurant and it is Lava Lounge.  Replacing the old Waterloo cafe this place features a modern size rectangle bar area, outdoor dining in the front and around the sides, pretty decent lounge area, American diner style dining room, Private Party room all packed into a huge building with a mild seclusion on the Island.

Ok, Let’s Walk-Around:
Outside:  A very nice fresh new look, decent sized parking area in the front and outdoor dining on the first floor (Not fully arranged yet).  Walking up on the side stairs you hit another table setup for outdoor dining spanning around the left side of the perimiter.
Inside:
1st Room: The main entrance is the bar area and the pictures can describe the size. It spans the full room, to the right side (Behind the photo) there are a few couches to just hang out and relax.
2nd Room: passing the bar you hit a small Lounge area which features a few tables, chairs and stools (In back of the photo).  This is a decent place if you want to order some appetizers privately and hang out with a couple of drinks.
3rd Room: This is the main dining area, The entrance of this room features a buetifal employee stand with wine’s set up to add some flavour.  This room is set up like a “Diner” style American Cuisine  with some addition of “Oldies” photos to add some “Diner Style Uniqueness” to the place.  This room also features a buetifal stand with TV, Wines, Utensils and Sauces plastered in to give it a very unique and fresh look.
4th Room: Another room can be used for “Sunday Brunch” or “Private Parties”, this room also features Oldies photos from the 70’s and 80’s to add a bit uniqueness and flavour.

Walk-Around Sum-Up  The dining rooms seem to lean toward the “American Diner Style” cuisine, with a buetifal large bar and outdoor dining area.

The Menu: Offers many items from the Appetizers sections such as (Chicken Soup, French Onion, Fried Calamari, Lava Nachos, Quesidilla’s and the other basic stuff).
They look to have all the types of food such as Wraps, Pizza, Burgers, Italian Entrees,  American Meals, Seafood which includes items such as “Surf & Turf”, Tilapia, Pasta, Pork Chops and many more of the “Continental Cuisine” that Diner’s usually offer.

On the Stretch: (Comments Welcome) We have Big Nose Kates, Killmeyer’s, and now Lava Lounge, Your vote is required for best outdoor style dining for the summer, Best Drink list, and Best Food List.  You can Email Vote@whereyoueat.com and describe your experiences in order.

Well Folks I have to admit, this is not a great dining spot. The place is nice and cozy, the staff is friendly giving a warm welcome but the food…. WOW!!!!! Thank God im not a critic. I ordered Buffalo wings and got Honey glazed wings, I ordered my niece a Grill Cheese sandwich and something so simple was burnt. There was Five orders of Burgers deluxe and well done to them means ROAR!!! I was embarrased to have them re-do my order. They need to step up there A-Game when it comes to food…

As for the night Lounge, I do recomend. Its great with a friendly Bar Staff and has enough Plasma’s for customers to enjoy there favorite sport.

Lava ignites!! Contrary to an $8.50 cheeseburger deluxe being a roar, my party found it to be a SCORE!! The staff was good natured and friendly, coupled with a relaxed environment unlike Staten Island has known.. With seating arrangements both inside and out we were greeeted warmly by a manager and sat in front of the plasmas and enjoyed a yankees win..We ordered hot wings, a cheeseburger, and a steak salad.. I recommend Lava Lounge on any occassion, whether for drinks or a family dinner, its prices and environment will keep customers coming back.

Dont even bother. Ive been there 3 times with friends, to give the place a chance, and will never go back. There’s never anyone in there. Its always dead. The food is disgusting. Theres no chef, just a mexican in the back cooking. Our chicken was raw and the bacon on the burgers was not edible. The drinks are expensive, and the bartender had to ask the owner for one lousy buyback. 5 dollar beers? 7 dollar shots? Please. I actually saw the owner tell the bartenders to pour the tap beer heavy so half the glass is head – and to pack the drink glasses with lots of ice. Thursday nights has all underage kids in there and theres constant fights. I here the owner owns the gym and carwash nextdoor, so he never has time for the place. God forbid he should offer an appetizer special.
We really tried to give the place a chance, because my buddy knows the owners son, but im tired of getting ripped off and spending time at a place thats always dead.
By the way, that previous comment had to be written by the owners, its so obvious.
