Here we are, it’s another spot to make Staten Island more diverse than ever. This restaurant is located directly Hylan blvd, the first parking lot over from the 122 precient. Haci Bekir Sofrasi, Sofrasi stands for “Feast Table” and Haci Bekir is owners name and restaurant name. Based on the logo it looks like the restaurant or owner has been in business since 1979 – and they are sure to mention they they are experienced caterers and serve office parties, birthdays, weddings and service club meetings. The inside seems like a open cafeteria with an open kitchen, gyro meat is of course visible as well as the salads on display. The menu features selection of Soups and Meditteranean Salads, Sphephers Salad, Cold Appetizers include options like the Babaganush, Eggplant with tomato sauce, hummus, lebni, stuffed grape leaves and cacic.
Standard Turkish Style apps, falafel, liver, calamari, Sigara Boregi and the entree’s. Gyro Kebab comes in Small or Large. Thinly sliced lamb and beef marinated with Haci Bekir’s own secret blend of seasoning, cooked on a rotating spin, served with rice. Other entree’s include all the standards Iskender Kebab, Adana Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab, Chicken Gyro, Chicken Shish kebab and Chicken Chops.
This Turkish Restaurant is also serving Oven Traditional Specials, including the Lahmacun a Turkish Style pizza with flat bread dough, topped with ground lamb and chopped garden vegetables. The Kymali Pide is a thin dough crust stuffed with seasoned ground lamb and beef. And the house special, Haci Bekir Special Pide is a thick round dough crust stuffed with Pastrami, Turkish Sausage, Ground Meat, Topped with Kashkaval Cheese & Egg.
Haci Bekir also has Sandwiches including the Gyro, Chicken, Kofte and a few others. Sandwiches are all served with Lettuce, Tomato, Onions served on a wrap – or for .50 extra you can get the Haci Bekir’s homemade bread. Sandwich prices vary from $7 – $.50. Entree’s vary from $8 to $16 depending on size and selection.
