Amor Ala Mexicana is the newest Mexican restaurant to open it’s doors in New Dorp.
After the recent closing of Ariana Deli, a lot of questions remained unanswered; is the restaurant relocating or closed permanently. Ariana was a favorite among locals and many even said it’s the best Mexican food on Staten Island, why would it suddenly disappear? Well lucky for the neighborhood, they just moved up the block to a smaller location with less overhead (imagine the rent on prime New Dorp by the train station).
They re branded and no longer feature a deli section, instead the focus is straight restaurant with some dine in tables and delivery available all open hours. The menu is very similar to the original. And all the favorites remain. Under Authentic Mexican the restaurant serves items such as Nachos with Chicken or Steak, Gorditas with Cheese or Fried Pork, Green and Mole covered Enchiladas as well as the famous Molcajete.
Platters include items such as Plato Ranchero comes with Salted Beef, Chorizo, Fried Cactus, Onions, Jalapeno, Cheese, served with rice & beans goes for $12. While a Grilled Chicken platter can be had for $8. Amor a La Mejicana also serves a selection of Seafood, featuring shrimp dishes, whole fried tilapia and shrimp cocktail. Mexican street food options include Basic Tacos, Specialty Meats Tacos and Premium Tacos. A selection of Tortas and Sopes fill the rest of the lunch and dinner menu.
Ariana’s has always been known for huge breakfast platters that could easily be shared by two people. Hopefully the new restaurant provides the same kind of specialty. The basic Mexican breakfast dish is the Huevos Rancheros served with crisp tortillas topped with eggs, lettuce, sour cream and cheese. Most platters are served with rice, beans and tortillas. Breakfast can be had for under $8.
