An iconic Sandwich shop from Red Hook Brooklyn makes it’s way to Staten Island, located across from Tappen Park in Stapleton, Defonte’s of Brooklyn brings overstuffed delicious sandwiches to the neighborhood. The shop is a “Deli” style establishment with no inside dining, currently only take out is offered. We got our hands on one “Large” – and it will surely fill two people and the people sharing it will enjoy each and every bite.

On the Menu: The establishment features just a few main categories. The Nicky Special under Cold Heroes is made with Ham, Capicola, Salami, Provolone, Fried Eggplant, hot salad, marinated mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar. Hot Plates go for under $10 (except the Steak) and gives option of Chicken Parmesan, Eggplant Parmesan, Meatball Parmesan. Wide selection of Hot Heroes includes everything from the Cuban to the Hot Roast Beef. Names like the Sinatra Special, The Donato and the Filippo special give each sandwich a character of it’s own.
Sides such as deli style Cole Slaw, Marinated Mushrooms, Stuffed Hot Cherry Peppers and Broccoli Rabe all fill the rest of the menu as well as a choice of salads and beverages.
