New Island restaurant changes

By In Grand Openings, Staten Island

Not too long ago the restaurant that sits at Seguine Ave and Amboy Road used to Island Taste, recently however the restaurant has went through a complete management, ownership and chef changes as well as a new menu update.

View New Island restaurant Staten Island

New Island keeps a similar look as the original but changes up the offering of House Special Dishes and Lunch Specials.  Lunch is now $6.75 but served with a larger selection of Roast Prok Fried Rice and Soup such as Egg Drop or Hot and Sour.  There is actually around 50 lunch specials available from the new management, which is higher than we have seen at a Chinese Take-out joint, especially on Staten Island. Everything is on the menu from Shrimp to Lobster Sauce to Broccoli with Bean Curd.  Although we do wish to a see restaurant serving Fish Filet steamed over mixed vegetables, maybe this is soon to come.

As most Chinese spots serve a bit of “American Specials” such as Fried Chicken Wings, Fried Shrimp, Fried Scallops, Chicken Wings, Chicken Nuggets in a selection of French Fries or Fried Rice.  Appetizers, Soup and Fried Rice options are all standard as well as all of the poultry, meat and seafood items.  Combo Platters are standard as well but when we get to the Chef Special section of everything below is unique.

Vegetables and Bean Curd as well as Diet Dishes offer everything from Steamed to Tofu.  New Island is also one of the only Chinese Take outs in the area to be serving Chinatown Style Noodle in Soup.  This is the packed out soups with lots of vegetables a selection of noodles, dumplings, shu mai and whatever else they put in to give an authentic taste of Chinatown.

New Island is a delivery focused spot with just a few tables and reviews from the community have been well received.  The restaurant is opened 7 Days and delivers up to 5 miles with a minimum order of $10.
