Staten Island, it looks like we are on a roll, another authentic Chinese Restaurant opens up, this time it’s on the South Shore.  Ocean Palace is bringing Dim Sum to the Rossville Section of Staten Island, easily accessible to most of South and Mid Island.

Ocean Palace features a full size bar area in a seperate room (no liquor license yet as of this Grand Opening) and a main dining room with various style seating, a few booths on the side over looking all sides of the restaurant and interior dining with various round and squared tables.  The main dining area features the sushi bar along with live fish and crab tanks, even have the live shrimp in these tanks.

The restaurant is Chinese and Japanese cuisine with Dim Sum offerings and many American Friendly Chinese dishes but a whole variety of Chinese authentic specials.  For Dim Sum the restaurant takes a letter approach with pricing and size.  A – F with selection varying from $2.75 to $8.95.  Items such as  Beef Ball would be $3.25 to items on the F would be dishes lik the Conch with Fish Sauce or the Clam and Pepper in Black Bean Sauce.  Squid with Five Spice Powder, on the menu.  Congee is seved here as well.  Chicken Feet, Beef Tripe, Steamed Buns, Crystal Rice Roll, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf and even the Xiao Long Bao – Steamed Small bun stuffed with Juicy Pork (Soup Dumplings as I call them).

Lunch items brings dishes which remind me of true Chinese restaurants in Sunset Park with offerings like Salt and Pepper Squid, Fish Filet with Vegetables, Braised Bean Curd, Chicken with Bitter Melon, Pickled Vegetables and Pork Chop items.  Great menu addition to Staten Island, only a few places still offer these type of dishes, mainly coming from the Chinese Market on South Avenue.

The main menu as well creates a lot of options not seen on standard Chinese American Take out spots, Soups at Ocean Palace include options like the Dried Scallops and Seafood, Fish Maw with Crab meat alongside the standard Wonton, Hot & Sour and Egg Drop soups.

Appetizers do include Assorted Dim Sum, Cold Jelly Fish, Squid on a Stick, Beef Stick, Shumai and a few others. Main Dishes such as Roast Suckling Pig (served whole) can be ordered in advance.  Lamb Dishes with Chopped Scallion, or shredded pork as well as Beef entrees such as T-Bone steak, Sliced Beef with hot Pepper sit alongside Beef with Broccoli (Chinese style).  Seafood dishes include Jumbo Shrimps, Fish in Hot Chili Sauce, Steam Flounder, House Special sauteed assorted seafood along with more Chinese Specials including Steamed Dungenes Crab, Sauteed Lobster, Sauteed Clam and Sauteed Frog with Chives. More house special dishes come from the Vegetables side, Sauteed Water Spinach with Garlic, Fresh Mixed Mushrooms and Bean Curd.  Various types of Noodles, Fried Rice is offered here as well.

Ocean Palace offers Japanese alongside with your full Sushi Menu, Soup, Salad, Apps, Sashimi platters and a la carte options.
